HAVERING SIXTH FORM COLLEGE STUDENTS SHINE IN WINTER EXAMS!

Recent exam results put Havering Sixth Form College students at the top of the class!
Many subjects including Biology, Design & Technology and Health & Social Care, achieved 100 % pass rates.
In addition, the number of students achieving A and B grades increased in many subjects; in A Level ICT, 94% of students achieved a grade A or B and in A Level Design & Technology, an incredible 96% achieved a grade A or B.
Adam Birch, a former Hall Mead student, achieved an A grade in the January 2009 A level Design & Technology exam. Adam is hoping to repeat this success in the summer exams and coursework and is currently working hard to complete his large scale design project using College CAD facilities and computer aided manufacture equipment.
Adam, who is celebrating his eighteenth birthday this week, is looking forward to progressing on to Higher Education having recently been offered a scholarship to study Marine Engineering at the University of Greenwich.
Assistant Principal, Curriculum, Paul Nutter, was delighted with the College’s exam results: “Students and staff have worked incredibly hard this year, focussing particularly on the skills necessary to achieve high grades. These results show that their efforts are paying off. We are very proud of the students.”

Fantastic Achievement for Students at Havering Sixth Form College
I am delighted with the A Level pass rate of 98.3% this year. This is a further improvement on last year. Thirty three students have achieved three A grades or more with nine of these achieving four A grades. The A&B pass rate was over 42%.
Four of our students have been congratulated by the examination board for being in the top ten in the country. These results are due to hard work, a love of learning and genuine commitment from young people, teachers and support staff in the College.
It is very encouraging that the fantastic learning that has taken place in College this year has been rewarded by such excellent results.
Havering Sixth Form College has a very broad curriculum and welcomes students of all abilities. To see so many students achieving such good results on a variety of learning programmes is truly inspiring.
