Race for Life 2011

A band of ladies from HSFC are once again Racing for Life...

at Hylands Park on Sunday 17th July 2011

Please consider sponsoring us using the web link - if every member of staff alone made a donation of just one pound we'd have ... ermm... lots of money!

Using the web link you can leave us a little message - either all of us or maybe your local representative - this would be most encouraging particularly when we are at 4K and may possibly be wondering why we are doing this!

Also, if you use the web link it means that as a taxpayer its easy to Gift Aid and then the Government will make a contribution too - which is always to be encouraged.

If you are not running but would like to come along on the day to support us that would be great too - Hylands Park is a lovely venue for a family picnic and

Many thanks

Sue

On behalf of the many...

PS - We know that some other colleagues are also Racing for Life at other venues and we wish them every success too.

In 2010 - Havering Sixth Form College’s fantastic team of 75 women took part in the Race for Life on Sunday July 4th – and raised an incredible £4,825.66 for Cancer Research UK.

Team of 75 limber up for this weekend's Race for Life

On a scorching hot day and cheered on by family, friends and supporters, the team joined the thousands of other like-minded women in a snaking sea of pink and white to complete the 5K course at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.

Some of the College team ran the race in just over half an hour and others jogged or walked the distance – but all were greeted with a huge cheer as they crossed the finish line.

Wearing their orange sashes, the women were easily identifiable and the College team received many mentions by the race commentator as the participants wound their way around the tree-lined course.

After the race, and joined by other College staff members, family and friends, many stayed on for a picnic in the park to soak up the wonderful feeling created by the event - a happy yet poignant atmosphere because most women taking part were remembering loved ones who had died from cancer.

Gift Aid it!

If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating so that an extra 25%, plus a 3% supplement, can be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support – Together we will beat cancer.
