The Cafeteria

The College Cafeteria provides seating for up to 250 students and offers a selection of hot and cold food, salads and sandwiches with an emphasis on healthy eating. There are different menus each day and these often follow a theme, e.g. 'Mexican Day '. Drinks and snacks are also available from the vending machines. The Cafeteria is located in the main building.

Student Resources

The Student Resources area stocks a wide range of items including paper, card, pen drives, art materials and general stationery. Services available to students include colour photocopying, binding and laminating. Items such as digital cameras and video cameras may also be borrowed.

IT Facilities

The College offers students the use of PCs and lap tops in a variety of fixed and mobile locations.  There is internet access on all machines and every student has a College email account.  Scanning, laser jet printing and colour printing services are also available across the College.  There are computer zones within most subject areas as well as the Learning Zone and Library.  The College has recently introduced an Internet Cafe where many students choose to work.

As well as the areas outlined above, many classrooms are equipped with computers and lap tops are available for student use in and outside lessons. The College is fully equipped with a wireless network, covering all buildings and outside areas. This was recently renewed to offer the highest specification and connectivity.  The wireless network provides connection for a range of mobile devices.  These mobile devices are used in a number of subjects to support learning in the classroom, on field trips and visits and at home, allowing students to enjoy the benefits of IT wherever they might be working.

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

Moodle is the College's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The VLE provides resources and activities to support students' learning for a wide range of subjects coupled with an opportunity to discuss their subjects through moderated discussion rooms. Moodle can be accessed both from within College and from outside, allowing students full access and connectivity to learning materials and discussion groups from home.

The Sports Hall

The well-equipped, full size sports hall is in use throughout the week for various A level and BTEC lessons, as well as training sessions for many of the college sports teams. Students are able to hire the sports hall for one-off charity events such as the recent Raiders wheelchair basketball tournament.

The Fitness Suite

The Fitness Suite offers free weights, machine weights and cardio-vascular equipment including treadmills, rowers, bikes and steppers. We currently employ two fully qualified fitness instructors who can offer tailor-made training plans as well as advice on nutrition.

The 'Room for Reflection'

The College has a multi-faith Room for Reflection that is available for students and staff who wish to pray, meditate or take a quiet break during the College day.

Library

A huge library provides study facilities for over 120 students.  A wide range of books, newspapers, journals, CDs and DVDs are available for loan or reference and the library also provides a small number of computers for student use.   The library is located in the main building. Students appreciate having a supervised library where they can work undisturbed.

Careers Support

The Careers Suite provides an excellent range of information on careers, further and higher education including up to date reference material, university prospectuses, software packages and careers literature. The Careers team are available to offer advice on careers, employment and higher education, and to offer specialist guidance to students on the university application process (UCAS). In addition, a Connexions Personal Advisor is attached to the College two days a week. A Careers Advisor will be available at the Preview Events.

Learning Zone

The Learning Zone is a friendly study area accessible to all students in their free periods throughout the college day. The Learning Zone provides computers and a wide variety of learning resources for students to use. Learning Mentors are always on hand to offer support. Students who use the area regularly find that it helps them to stay organised and to keep up to date. The Learning Zone is located in the Newcourt building. In addition to the Learning Mentors, a number of areas have specialist subject facilitators who support students both within and outside lessons.
