Admission ProcedureTransfer Forms and Application Forms During September to November 2011, Transfer to College Presentations will be given to Year 11 students and their parents at all partner schools (Havering 11-16 schools). Students at these partner schools will be provided with a transfer form (application form) by their school and will be supported through the transfer process by their Head of Year or Careers teacher. Students should complete the form and hand it back to their school. The deadline for completion of transfer forms will be set by the individual schools. The forms are then forwarded to Havering Sixth Form College by the schools, along with student references Students at non-partner schools (schools outside Havering) or at Havering 11-18 schools, or those students who live in Havering but go to school outside the borough, should apply using the application form which can be downloaded here or can be obtained by calling 01708 514400. Application forms will be available from October. Open Days Open days were held in November 2011 and January 2012. Open Days are an opportunity for pupils and their parents/carers to come to the College, meet teachers and current students and learn more about courses and subjects. Presentations will give pupils an overview of subject/course content, skills, teaching and learning opportunities and assessment methods. Presentations will be available for all subjects/courses including Level 2 courses such as vocational BTEC courses and GCSEs, as well as Level 3 courses such as A Levels and BTEC Diploma courses. Deadline for Applications Partner schools (Havering 11-16 schools) will set their own deadline. Please ask your school for details. Interviews – w/c Monday 26th March 2012 All applicants living in Havering or attending schools in Havering will be interviewed together with selected applicants living outside the borough. Interviews will be conducted during the day in Enrolment Week, which is week commencing Monday 26th March 2012. These interviews will be held at College and will provide students with Information, Advice and Guidance on which courses would be suitable for them. We positively encourage parent/guardian involvement in this process and hope that they are able to accompany their son/daughter. Students will be given an appointment time and the interview will last approximately 50 minutes. At the end of the interview, the majority of students will be provisionally enrolled on a programme of study at Havering Sixth Form College. All enrolments are conditional on achieving specific grades at GCSE and meeting the Average Points Score for their chosen subjects. These grades and points scores will be discussed at your interview and confirmed in writing. If you do not achieve the required grades, you should inform the College when you receive your results. It may not be possible to place you on an alternative course if you do not achieve your target grades. Freshers’ Week– w/c Monday 2nd July 2012 All students who have been provisionally enrolled will be invited to attend an induction programme, including lessons in the subjects they have chosen and other information gathering activities. Exam results – Thursday 23rd August 2012 GCSE results will be available to students on August 23rd 2012 Admission to College – Friday 24th August 2012 Admission for new students commences from August 24th 2012 with teaching and learning starting at the beginning of September. Applications received after the February deadline may be placed on a waiting list.An on-line Application Form will be available for late applicants on Thursday 23rd August 2012. These late applications will only be considered after GCSE results have been released and are subject to course availability.
