“I settled into the college within the first week. Everyone just made you feel so welcome. It felt a lot easier to get used to the new surroundings when everywhere you went, you were greeted by a smiling face or someone asking if you want help. The college has an atmosphere that makes you feel happy and safe; it's an extremely pleasant place to be.”
Oliver Sears (ex Emerson Park School)
“The college has a great atmosphere. I settled in quickly and made a new group of friends. The new timetable gives you a lot of freedom and you are treated like an adult with the amount of free time you sometimes can have which helps with studies. Even if you have problems there are lots of people there to help, which makes the college a nice to place to work in.”
Holly Anderson (ex Gaynes School Language College)
"The Sixth Form College is the fusion of studying and fun. It doesn't sound possible does it? But at Havering Sixth Form College you'll meet so many new friends and have a great social life as well as a good education. Freedom, support and having a laugh is what it's all about!"
Jay Shukla (ex Kingsford Community School)
“One of the many great points of the college is the sense of respect you get from the tutors; they treat you like adults and are so helpful and very willing to support you in everything you do. The students are very welcoming and friendly and willing to put you on the right path if you get lost. I decided to come to the college for the sports and was not disappointed; there is something for everyone and it’s great to see the dedication of the coaches which is shown in the games and matches won. I Love it!!!”
Georgina Dickson (ex Hall Mead School)
“You think that the transition from school to college is going to be a hard one, but I found that here they make you feel so welcome and are always on hand to help that you fit in straight away! And the fact that students have decided what they want to study means you don't get people messing about in your lessons. “
Hayley Evans, (Ex Brittons School and Technology College)
“When I first arrived all the staff made me feel really welcome. I have settled in really well and I have really enjoyed my time at Havering Sixth Form College as it has a really friendly environment."
Leia - Marie Bull (ex Kingswood School)
Havering Sixth Form College is what I would describe as a thoroughly progressive community whereby people are able to enhance their skills as they are encouraged by staff and students to do their very best. The large number of people makes it easy to socialise with a diverse range of ethnicities while at the same time you are being educated by the innovative thoughts of other peers. Learning is always made fun and staff will always do their best to improve you.
Andrew Ben Salem (ex Bow School)
The Sixth Form has a very welcoming environment and is very tidy too. The teachers & tutors are also very willing to help you with any matters. I feel the Learning Zone particularly is a very beneficial part of the Sixth Form, being a very helpful place, with a friendly and cosy atmosphere. I personally found it very nice to have teachers ready to help, and even one to one time if you are stuck on work, or need advice on how to draft an essay for example.
Tajá Young (ex Bower Park School)
"I was scared when I first started here - but I felt really comfortable when everyone made me feel welcome, and how grown up everyone is here. Everyone is so friendly and even the newcomers are welcoming"
Savannah Cook (ex Bower Park School)
"College is great, it's very different to secondary school in many aspects; you get to wear what you want, address the teachers by their first names and all of your subjects that you choose are ones that you want to study and are interested in, so you'll never get bored. Settling in is not as scary as people seem to think it is, everyone is on the same boat and you will make friends very easily and the wonderful atmosphere really helps too. You have a sense of more freedom and it's a really enjoyable experience".
Anthony Wong (ex Abbs Cross)
“The college has such a good atmosphere for teaching and learning. Everyone is friendly and helpful and it is really easy to settle in. There are a lot of opportunities around the college to enrich yourself and it is actually fun attending here. The support it offers students is outstanding and any problems or issues or listened to and dealt with quickly. I would recommend this college to anyone.”
Chloe Edmunds (ex Sawyers Hall College)
“I came to Havering Sixth Form College for the good opportunities and it taught me how to be independent, which was a nice change from secondary school.”
Lavinia Mabuidi (ex Loxford High School)
