Cricket team’s spirit shines through as they reach runners-up spot in indoor league
The College Cricket Team had a great run this year in the Chance to Shine Indoor Cricket League, held at the Sports Dock, University of East London, in the heart of the Docklands.
Captain, Kudiwa Kamudyariwa, competently led his team to a runner’s up spot this season, against a competitive field of local colleges and schools.
New Vic and Newham College are notoriously the strongest teams in this league, however Havering Sixth Form stole all the headlines by narrowly missing out on a winner’s spot by just one point.
The cricket team also had a fantastic run in the regional competition qualifiers, where they lost out in the final to New Vic. It was a very close fought match which could have gone either way, but New Vic managed to steal a win from the last ball of the game.
Cricket at Havering Sixth Form College has progressed dramatically over the last two years, and with a healthy squad of players to choose from, the players are confident they can secure some silverwear in next year’s indoor competitions.
The squad players, who are coached by Sport teacher Hermes Solomonides, are: Kudiwa Kamudyariwa (Captain), Jack Payne, Harry Gilham, Louis Pickering, Oliver White, Ammar Khan, Abdal Altaf, Kai Hatton and Sam Childs.
