It has been an excellent year at Havering Sixth Form College

Staff and students are now enjoying a well-earned summer break and getting ready for the challenges of the new academic year.

We started the year by receiving confirmation of the excellent destinations of our students. Our students attend top universities and secure excellent high-level and well paid apprenticeships. We know that Havering Sixth Form College is in the top 10% of all schools and colleges in the country for ensuring that our students progress to positive destinations. This work has been reinforced this year, with students receiving good University offers for 2017 as well as securing great employment. To ensure that this work continues we have invested more money in our award winning CUBE (Careers, University, Business and Employment) facility, which supports all students ensuring that they progress to excellent destinations.

During the year we have been delighted with the work that our students have been doing. Attendance in classes, and in our study areas, has been very high and performance of students in their coursework and in-year assessments is also impressive. We have received special recognition for excellence in certain areas of the College, including our fantastic Engineering team, where the students are the highest performing in the country. We also received recognition in the Havering Education Awards for the progress our students make in Technical qualifications (e.g. Engineering); progress our students make in Maths; and for our innovative use of IT to support students.

Over the Summer period we are improving our facilities further. We have been recognised for our excellence in Science and as a result have received a £100,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation to refurbish our Science Labs. We will also be refurbishing the restaurant area and some student study and social spaces.

If you are planning on joining us after the summer break, enjoy your summer but please ensure that you take note of our communications since with more applications this year than last you will need to make sure that you do attend your enrolment interview. At enrolment you will be set a first assignment that you will need to hand in at Induction on either 11th or 12th September.
