Havering Sixth Form College celebrates 25 years
More than 200 members of staff joined the current Chair of Governors Keith Darvill and Principal Paul Wakeling at Havering Sixth Form College, on Friday 16th September 2016 to celebrate its 25th Anniversary.
The college opened its doors in September 1991 as the Sixth Form College for Havering to guarantee sixth form education for young people in the borough. Since then it has successfully educated thousands of students from the ages of 16 to 19, offering a wide range of subjects.
During recent weeks over 2,700 students were enrolled for the new term. Teaching and support staff have worked hard to ensure the student journey throughout their stay is an enjoyable, rewarding and safe experience.
On Friday, a 25th Anniversary party was held at the College where Principal Paul Wakeling cut a special celebratory cake.
He said: “I am delighted to celebrate a quarter of a century for Havering Sixth Form College which has consistently served the community well by providing access to high quality education for students of all abilities.
“Our success rates are high and we remain a very popular college with local young people. When they leave us, a high percentage of our students go on to top universities and excellent jobs.
“We will endeavour to be the Sixth Form College of choice in the local area for the next 25 years and beyond.”
