Individual A Level Success 2017
Isabelle Mattia, from Romford, exceeded all her target grades by gaining an A* in Geology and 2 A grades in Maths and Biology. This was a fantastic achievement for the Albany School student who improved on her AS exams by at least a whole grade in all three subjects. She will be studying Geology at Imperial University, London. She said: “College has been the best two years of my life. I have had such a good time and my grades are amazing. But I wouldn’t have got the A* in Geology if it wasn’t for my teacher Keith Oak. He has been the best teacher I’ve ever had and he has inspired me to be so passionate about Geology. I’m sad to be leaving but I will definitely stay in touch.”
Daisy Rovai achieved an amazing 3 A* grades in Geography, English Literature and Psychology. The former Abbs Cross School student who lives in Hornchurch, is taking a gap year before possibly applying to university next year. She said: “I am really pleased but quite surprised at my grades! I was thinking of going into teaching but now I am not sure, so I will look for a job or an apprenticeship and then decide if I still want to go to uni next year.”
Dorin Iftinca, who came to Havering Sixth Form having studied for his GCSEs in just one year at Havering College of Further & Higher Education, achieved 3 A*s in Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths and an A grade in Biology. Dorin, who lives in Dagenham, was part of our Oxbridge Medical Group and hopes to become a doctor. He plans to return to Romania to study Medicine.
Uzair Master, formerly from The Albany School, will be studying Management and Leadership at City University after achieving 2 A grades in Spanish and Economics and a B grade in Maths. Uzair said he was pleased with his results because he fasted through Ramadan all the time he was revising which was particularly hard.
Jade Kinchella will be studying Psychology at the University of Lincoln after achieving straight A grades in Biology, English Literature, Psychology and Extended Project Qualification. Jade, from Romford and formerly of Redden Court School, praised her teachers for their support and said she is looking forward to starting university.
Sukurat Olowosale, who attended school in Nigeria before transferring to Havering Sixth Form College from Palmers Sixth Form, achieved an A* in Biology, an A grade in Chemistry and a B in Physics. This far exceeded her target grades of Cs. Sukurat, who lives in Chafford Hundred, will be studying Biochemistry at the University of York.
Samuel Morse, from Hornchurch and formerly of Sanders Draper School, achieved a fantastic A* in Maths, 2 A grades in Computer Science and Physics, a B grade in Extended Project Qualification and a C in Further Maths. Samuel will be studying Maths at the University of Nottingham.
Elizabeth Ojogbede achieved an A* in Maths, an A in Chemistry and a B grade in Further Maths. The former Hathaway Academy student, who lives in Grays, has far exceeded her target grades having started College with mainly Bs and Cs in her GCSEs. She is going on to study Chemistry at the University of Bath.
Ronaldas Slikas will be studying Graphic Design at Ravensbourne after achieving an A* in Graphics, an A in Photography and a B in Film Studies. Ronaldas, from Hornchurch and formerly of Abbs Cross School, has been extremely successful after having to resit GCSEs in Maths and English when he first started college.
Nathan Hardy-Walker will be studying for a degree in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts after achieving 2 A* grades in Photography and Fine Art and a C in English Language. Nathan, from Romford, previously attended Redden Court School.
Matthew Foster will be starting an apprenticeship in Accounting at KPMG after achieving 2 A grades in Law and Accounting and a B in Business. Matthew lives in Hornchurch and was previously a student at Albany School.
