Champions of London - girl power shoots team to top spot
Havering Sixth Form College’s women’s footballers have become the champions of London!
The girls won the London FA Women’s Football League by an impressive three points, losing only one game all season.
They sealed the top spot during the final match against Barnet and Southgate (Tottenham Academy). Barnet and Southgate played their strongest academy team that had previously won the London regional tournament, so it was a tough fixture for the HSFC girls.
In a thrilling match there was plenty of end to end action with our girls matching up to the tough opposition. The game ended 1-1 which meant Havering Sixth Form won the league by 3 points.
The team - Jordan Whittock, Coral Coote, Emily Dempsey, Emily Street, Erin Mansfield, Briony Hagger and Amara Drummond – were praised by their coach, Stuart Pallister.
He said: “The games were played over six months and there were 11 other colleges competing in the league, including academy teams. The girls have been fantastic all season and have only lost one match.”
The team was captured in action during the final match and were then photographed receiving the league trophy.
