Coffee Morning raises hundreds for Macmillan
Students and staff joined the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raised almost £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There were mouth-watering muffins and delicious Danishes on sale in the College’s Quad along with cupcakes, crepes, hot dogs, doughnuts and drinks.
ICT students and tutors set up the stall and helped sell the sweet and savoury goodies, which had been home-baked or donated by staff.
Tutor Alan Benham put on a brave face yet again and had his head shaved for the fifth year running to raise more money for the charity. He said: “It’s all for a good cause, and it will grow back – in time for me to have it all off again next year!”
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is held annually and involves millions of other fundraisers up and down the country hosting an event on the same day at the same time to raise money so that no-one has to face cancer alone.
ICT Tutor Maryam Afshar thanked everyone who helped to organise the coffee morning in College and all who contributed to the fantastic amount raised by buying the food and drink on offer.
She said: “Staff and students gave some fantastic support to make this such a success. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and drinks and many students generously sponsored Alan’s head shave too.”
