Badminton team in great position for league and cup double
The Havering Sixth Form College Mixed Badminton team is going from strength to strength and are among the favourites to win the AoC Sport National Badminton Mixed Cup.
The team have also had fantastic success in the league and are currently in the top position with one game left to play.
In a recent match against NewVic Sixth Form College, they won 8 out of 8 games. The team were: Raece Master, Mauteen Wusu, Mannah Rahman, Olamide Owoade, Oliver White and Samraj Kambo.
They topped this with an excellent performance in the National Mixed Cup, qualifying for the quarter finals by beating Leyton Sixth Form.
The College’s Sport and Fitness Manager, Michael Leader, said: “We won seven games out of the 10 we played with our women's doubles match being crucial! A great shot from Mauteen Wusu won this game and gave us the majority of wins. The games were really competitive and were very close, so the team as a whole did a great job of staying focused and winning.
“Particular thanks to Emily Martin and Evie O'Sullivan who stepped in at the last minute to join the team, which allowed us to play all of the allocated games.”
