College awarded OFSTED grading of GOOD
We are delighted to share the news that Havering Sixth Form College has just been graded Good by OFSTED in all areas of provision.
The Inspectors recognised that the College is on an improvement journey, stating that ‘Governors and senior leaders are ambitious and have high aspirations for staff and students. They have established a strong culture of improvement at the college’.
Particular mention was given in the OFSTED report to the way in which students enjoy their time at College, are supported to make good progress and that teachers ‘use varied and stimulating activities during lessons, which challenge and enthuse’ them.
Inspectors also complimented the CUBE, the College’s careers service, on its provision of very good impartial careers advice and guidance to students and on the College facilitating a very high proportion of students going into further education, higher education or employment with many of those students going to prestigious universities.
They also noted that the College helps students to ‘develop confidence in their own ability, become more self-assured and work positively towards their learning goals’ and that they benefit from a wide range of enrichment activities and from ‘well-resourced learning environments’.
Principal, Paul Wakeling, commented: “What is particularly pleasing is that the hard work of our staff to ensure a great experience and good outcomes for all of our students, both in terms of qualifications achieved and fantastic destinations reached, has been acknowledged. We are now beginning our journey from Good to Outstanding.”
