College Fundraiser for St Francis Hospice
Students and staff collected a fantastic £754.22 for St Francis Hospice at a College fundraiser event.
Run as part of the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the event saw tasty treats for sale such as cakes, muffins, pastries, hotdogs, waffles and biscuits.
Joining in the fun, ICT tutor Alan Benham put on a brave face and agreed to have his head shaved in order to raise even more money.
He said: “It’s all for a good cause, and it will grow back - I hope!”
The Macmillan Coffee Morning event is held annually and involves millions of other fundraisers up and down the country hosting an event on the same day at the same time to raise money for those who have been affected by cancer.
Tutor Maryam Afshar who organised the event thanked everyone who helped to make it such a success.
She said: “We decided to donate the money to St Francis Hospice because it is one of the College’s charities for this year. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food - we managed to sell most of it and many staff and students generously sponsored Alan’s head shave too. We will definitely be here raising money again next year!”
