Careers Event gets great feedback from exhibitors
A Careers Event organised by students for students was hailed a great success - and is now expected to be a regular feature in the Havering Sixth Form College calendar.
The event was held to inform Vocational students of the variety of job roles and educational opportunities awaiting them when they leave college.
Organised by lower sixth Travel & Tourism students as part of their course, the day included talks by representatives from Easyjet, British Airways and Fashion Designer Abiola Dawodu. There were also exhibitors in the College Atrium and Quad from businesses, apprenticeship providers, training academies and careers services, including Virgin Active, Prospects and 5E Training.
Seetec representatives Rosa and Rupert, who exhibited in the Quad, said: “The event was great. Thank you for inviting us. The students were all really pleasant, highly motivated to find work and a delight to talk to."
Other attendees said it was very well organised, was well structured, that hospitality was excellent and the students were brilliant.
Nikki Phelps, the College Careers Co-ordinator, said: “This was a Careers Event designed by students for students. It was great to see how well organised the Travel & Tourism students were in planning and marketing this event, how professionally they presented themselves and how committed they were as a team to make it a success.
“In all it was an excellent achievement, with great feedback from the invited students as well as the exhibitors. I hope this will now be a regular feature in the college calendar!”
