We are committed to serving our community, the local area and globally through our support of the charity Educaid.
We recognise the multi-cultural, multi-faith and multi-ethnic nature of both the UK and our College and seek to promote harmony and to fully prepare our students for life in modern Britain through an understanding of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths or beliefs.
An understanding of how citizens can influence decision-making through the democratic process.
Students engage in the democratic election of a College council to represent their views to Governors, Senior Leaders and other stakeholder.
Student voice is collected through a variety of means – surveys, staff led focus groups and student led forums.
We are committed to promoting equality and diversity within a safe & supported environment. Through our coaching programme that includes whole college activities, external speaker events and poster campaigns, students have the opportunity to consider what individual liberty means for them and for all members of society. We provide information for students on topics such as forced marriage, e-safety, keeping themselves safe from extremism, and anti-bullying.
Mutual Respect & Tolerance of Different Faiths & Beliefs
Our initial induction and Coaching programme cover the teaching of British Values and mutual respect. These are embedded in the College Vision, Code of Respect and course plans. Respect is one of our core values. This is discussed through our Coaching Programme, within lessons and at College Council level.
The College Room for Reflection enables students and staff, of all faiths and philosophies or non, a safe space for prayer and/or reflection.
Rule of Law
We expect all our students to have respect for the law and to become law-abiding citizens who are accountable for their behaviour.
The college has a Code of Conduct and rules, with which all students must comply. Our Vision and Values, classroom expectation and Code of Conduct provide a clear ethos and high level of expectation.
We have our own Security Team, Safer Schools Officers. Behaviour incidents are reviewed regularly and shared with all parties.
